Editorial Perspective

Public understanding of botulinum toxin is often shaped by simplified media coverage, marketing language and social media trends. As a result, it can sometimes be difficult for patients and the wider public to distinguish between evidence-based information, commercial messaging and misunderstanding.

I created BTXExpert to provide accessible, balanced educational information about botulinum toxin, including both its medical and aesthetic applications.

My aim is not to promote treatment, but to improve understanding of a field that continues to evolve scientifically and clinically. BTX has a long history within medicine and is used across multiple specialties, including neurology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation medicine and aesthetic practice. At the same time, increasing public interest and rapidly changing online discussion have highlighted the importance of accurate, contextual and evidence-based education.

BTXExpert aims to explain how botulinum toxin works, where it is used clinically, what current evidence suggests, and how safety considerations are approached in practice. The site may also include commentary on emerging research, media coverage and public discussion surrounding BTX-related treatments and developments.
